Ruthie/R.V. East was born and raised in Pennsylvania, where the high-rises and cobblestone streets of the City of Brotherly Love were a stone’s throw away, but cows and pastures were never out of the question.

She discovered at a young age that books made fantastic friends—not only because they never made fun of her braces, or even because of how fun they were to go shopping for—but because she could look at them and see every side of herself reflected back, right there on the shelf.

After racking up letters behind her name in the healthcare field, she turned to writing as a way to explore seemingly ordinary characters who discover the extraordinary within.
